Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and creative summer student to assist in enhancing the social media presence of our not-for-profit community program. The selected candidate will be crucial in setting up, managing, and expanding our organization's reach on Instagram and LinkedIn.
This position will involve content creation, posting, and the development of a comprehensive 12-month content calendar to ensure consistent and engaging communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management
Establish and manage Instagram, Meta and LinkedIn accounts for the organization.
Develop and implement strategies to increase followers, engagement, and brand awareness.
Monitor social media platforms regularly, respond to inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely manner.
Establish brand guidelines and hashtags
Content Creation
Create high-quality, compelling visual and written content (including graphics, photos, videos, and posts) aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
Collaborate with team members to gather information and stories for content creation.
Ensure all content is in line with branding guidelines and promotes the organization’s values and mandate, while respecting the privacy requirements of the program’s participants
Content Scheduling and Calendar Creation
Develop a comprehensive 12-month content calendar for Instagram and LinkedIn, focusing on campaigns, events, and key organizational milestones.
Schedule and post content according to the content calendar, maintaining a consistent and engaging online presence.
On-site Presence
Attend the organization’s site at least once a week between 9 am and 12 pm for meetings, updates, and collaboration with the team.
Qualifications
Age 15-30
Currently enrolled or looking to continue their post-secondary studies in a relevant degree program (Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or related field)
Strong understanding of social media platforms, particularly Instagram and LinkedIn.
Proficiency in content creation tools/software.
Creative thinking and a passion for storytelling through various media formats.
Speak English fluently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Self-starter and able to take initiative and finish tasks with little supervision
Access to the Internet and mobile phone
Experience with photography and/or videography is an asset.
Location: Remote/In-Person
The majority of the candidate’s work can be executed and completed remotely at the location of their choosing.
Given that the nature of their work is to promote the social activities and programming that we deliver, we do expect that the chosen candidate will attend in-person, on-site programming once each week, Tuesdays or Wednesdays between the hours of 9am and 12pm.
